Divine Mercy University Establishes Scholarship Fund in Honor of Bishop Paul S. Loverde

Divine Mercy University (DMU) has taken a significant step to honor Bishop Paul S. Loverde, the beloved Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Arlington, by establishing a scholarship fund in his name. Bishop Loverde, who served the diocese for nearly 17 years, has been recognized for his unwavering commitment to the sacredness of human life, Catholic education, and the promotion of vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life. His dedication to addressing mental health needs within dioceses across the United States has also been a hallmark of his service, evidenced by his 25-year tenure on the board of directors of the Institute for the Psychological Sciences, now known as Divine Mercy University.

The Bishop Loverde Scholarship Fund is designed to support priests and religious from across the country who will return to serve their home dioceses and communities after graduation, as well as students who commit to working in the Diocese of Arlington post-graduation. DMU has set an ambitious goal to raise at least $500,000 by June 30, 2026, to ensure the fund's success.
