HWPL World Peace Summit Achieves Major Progress in International Law, Education, and Interfaith Dialogue

Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) hosted the 11th HWPL World Peace Summit, bringing together 800 global leaders to showcase the organization's achievements and vision for peace. The summit emphasized collaboration between governments, international organizations, and civil society, highlighting major progress in three critical areas that demonstrate the growing global momentum toward sustainable peace.

In international law, HWPL's proposed legal framework, the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW), gained significant traction with the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament (PARLATINO) and 16 other parliamentary and governmental bodies adopting resolutions in support of the declaration. This widespread adoption represents a crucial step toward establishing international legal mechanisms for conflict prevention and peace preservation, potentially creating a foundation for more robust global governance structures focused on peacebuilding rather than conflict resolution.

HWPL's peace education program is being systematically integrated into public school curricula, marking a fundamental shift in educational priorities. Zambia's Ministry of Education has implemented the program in all schools in its capital, Lusaka, with plans for nationwide expansion, while Mongolia has also integrated the program into its educational system. This institutionalization of peace education ensures that future generations will be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary for conflict prevention and peaceful coexistence, potentially transforming how societies approach conflict resolution from reactive measures to proactive prevention.

The launch of the Solidarity of Religions' Peace Committee (SRPC) and the continued implementation of the HWPL International Religious Peace Academy represent significant advancements in interfaith cooperation. Since 2023, this interfaith learning program has been formally recognized in several countries as a platform for leaders and citizens to engage in peace-centered dialogue. This development addresses one of the most persistent sources of global conflict and demonstrates how religious diversity can become a strength rather than a source of division when properly channeled toward common peace goals.

HWPL Chairman Lee Man-hee emphasized the urgency of global cooperation for peace, stating that conflict can never be good and only the achievement of peace is truly good. He stressed that failing to establish a peaceful world in our time would burden future generations with conflict, making the current work of committing to acts of goodness essential for leaving behind a world of peace rather than conflict. Former Croatian President H.E. Ivo Josipović reinforced this message, noting that the activity for banning war throughout the world is more important now than ever, with this year's achievements serving as a guarantee that humankind will one day achieve eternal peace.

The summit also addressed peaceful Korean reunification and noted a rapid increase in HWPL's global membership, which now exceeds 580,000. Following the main event, satellite events will continue in 78 cities worldwide through October, with over 15,000 leaders expected to participate in further discussions on peacebuilding strategies. This expanding network and continued engagement demonstrate the growing global recognition that peace requires sustained, coordinated effort across all sectors of society, from government and education to religious institutions and civil society organizations.
