A survey conducted by Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony revealed that 57% of soon-to-be graduates from Class 116 of the Zion Christian Mission Center previously identified as having no religion. The survey, conducted from October 17-25 among 1,285 students who completed a year-long course to master the entire Bible and the Book of Revelation, demonstrates the program's appeal beyond traditional religious boundaries. This finding is particularly significant as it challenges conventional assumptions about religious education primarily attracting those with existing faith backgrounds.
The survey results showed overwhelmingly positive outcomes, with 99% of respondents reporting beneficial changes from taking the course. The most common response, cited by 50.7% of participants, was increased inner peace, stability, and emotional comfort. Nearly half of the graduates (46.7%) reported experiencing spiritual growth and a deepening of faith through their studies. One survey participant in their 20s commented, "I had previously tried to learn about God and the Bible through various church teachings in the Christian world, but I didn't see much intellectual growth. However, through the Mission Center, I came to truly understand the Bible."
Additional survey findings revealed multiple areas of personal development among graduates. 41.2% reported developing a positive value system, while 38.3% gained forgiveness, love, and a spirit of tolerance. The program also showed practical benefits in daily life, with 25.8% noting improved interpersonal relationships and 20.4% reporting better stress management and problem-solving abilities. Another 16.5% indicated they gained a new perspective on social life and work through their biblical studies.
The high satisfaction rates further underscore the program's effectiveness, with 94.5% of participants expressing satisfaction with the instructors and program, including 73.3% who reported being very satisfied. The 116th Zion Christian Mission Center graduation ceremony, held at the Cheongju Church in South Korea under the theme "Love, Blessings, and the Light That Shines Upon the World," celebrated these achievements. Through this ceremony, Shincheonji Church announced its plan to be a positive influence for both individuals and society, centering on the core values of qualitative maturity and the restoration of the essence of the Word.
The survey results provide meaningful insights into contemporary religious education and its potential to attract individuals from diverse backgrounds. The high percentage of previously non-religious participants completing the intensive Bible course suggests a growing interest in spiritual education that transcends traditional religious boundaries. This trend indicates that comprehensive biblical education can serve as a bridge for those seeking spiritual understanding regardless of their prior religious affiliations or lack thereof.
