AmeriWell Clinics announced the appointment of Dr. Samuel Christian, MD, as Medical Director to oversee clinical leadership across the organization's 14 locations in the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia region. A board-certified general surgeon with over 30 years of experience, Dr. Christian will reinforce AmeriWell's commitment to high-quality, integrated patient care while guiding multidisciplinary teams as the organization expands comprehensive treatment plans with specialized focus on personal injury, auto accidents, and work-related injuries.
Dr. Christian brings a diverse background spanning general surgery, trauma rehabilitation, and holistic wellness to the role. His clinical expertise includes general surgery, obesity treatment, and bariatric support, with national recognition coming when the Discovery Channel documented a groundbreaking 1,000-pound weight-loss case under his care. He later chronicled this experience and his faith-driven philosophy on wellness in his book, Mannafast Miracle. A graduate of Howard University College of Medicine, Dr. Christian completed his general surgery residency at St. Barnabas Medical Center, where he was recognized as Surgical Intern of the Year.
"Dr. Christian's unique blend of surgical precision, military discipline, and humanitarian compassion makes him the ideal leader for our medical team," said Dr. Ali R. Ramezan, DC, CEO and Founder of AmeriWell Clinics. "His arrival marks a significant milestone as we continue to elevate the standard of care for our communities." The appointment strengthens AmeriWell's position as a multi-specialty clinical group dedicated to serving communities throughout the region with a seamless care model that includes medical services, chiropractic care, physical therapy, aesthetic services, and on-site diagnostic imaging.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Christian is a retired Major in the U.S. Army Reserves who served as a former Battalion Surgeon contributing extensively to the treatment and rehabilitation of injured service members. He is also a committed humanitarian, having served on medical missions to the Hopi Indian Reservation and led disaster relief efforts in New Orleans post-Katrina and in Dominica following Hurricane Maria. This background informs his approach to patient care at AmeriWell Clinics, which is known for its multilingual staff and patient-first approach.
"I am honored to join AmeriWell Clinics and support AmeriWell's mission of providing accessible, compassionate care," said Dr. Christian. "I look forward to leveraging my experience in both surgical and holistic medicine to ensure every patient receives the personalized, integrated treatment they need to achieve long-term wellness." The organization prioritizes community wellness, offering responsive care to individuals recovering from pain or seeking long-term health solutions through its network of locations serving the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia region.
