Lahontan Gold Corp. (TSXV: LG) (OTCQB: LGCXF) announced the appointment of Billy Choi as its new chief financial officer, with Choi expected to assume full CFO responsibilities in October 2026 following a transition period. Choi most recently served as vice president of finance at Lithium Royalty Corp., where he was involved in its initial public offering, public-company reporting, financial controls and subsequent acquisition by Altius Minerals. The company stated that the appointment strengthens its financial management team as it advances permitting for the Santa Fe Mine and targets a restart of production in 2027.
The hiring of a CFO with IPO and acquisition experience is a significant step for Lahontan as it moves from exploration and development toward production. Choi's background in public-company reporting and financial controls will be critical as the company navigates the permitting process and prepares for the financial rigors of restarting a mine. The timing of the appointment, with a transition period leading to full responsibilities in 2026, aligns with the company's goal of production in 2027, suggesting a methodical approach to building the necessary financial infrastructure.
