The taekwondo team from Shincheonji Church of Jesus the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testemony has once again demonstrated their dominance in the sport by winning a total of 25 medals at the 2025 Park Chung-hee Cup International Open Taekwondo Competition. This event, which took place in Sangju, South Korea, saw participation from approximately 4,200 athletes representing 18 countries, making the team's achievement all the more significant.
Among the accolades, the team secured four gold medals, seven silver medals, and 14 bronze medals. Lee Jun-wi, one of the gold medalists, attributed their success to focused training and perseverance, despite the limited preparation time. Coach Kim Deok-hoon expressed pride in the team's performance, highlighting the high level of competition and the players' unwavering determination. The team's success at this event is a testament to their skill and the effective management behind their training regimen.
Further cementing their status as a formidable force in taekwondo, the Shincheonji team also excelled at the 2025 Kim Un-yong Cup International Open Taekwondo Competition in Busan, where every team member won a medal. This includes two first-place, four second-place, and five third-place awards. Their consistent performance across both domestic and international competitions underscores their commitment to excellence and the development of talent within the sport.
