Glocoms Inc. Secures Aerospace Medicine Engagement to Support Air Force Training Command

Glocoms Inc. is bolstering its footprint in specialized federal healthcare services through a new aerospace medicine engagement at the Defense Language Institute-English Language Center (DLIELC) at Joint Base San Antonio, Texas. The contract, outlined in a federal Performance Work Statement (PWS), requires an experienced Aerospace Medicine Physician, also known as a Flight Surgeon, to deliver medical expertise and program oversight to the Air Education and Training Command (AETC).

Maurence Anguh, Ph.D., who leads Glocoms, sees this as a strategic move to deepen the company's capabilities in federal professional services. The engagement places Glocoms at the intersection of aerospace medicine, physical standards, and operational readiness within an Air Force training environment.

The PWS details the need for a physician to support DLIELC's Flight Medicine and Physical Standards Branch. Duties include applying physical standards, managing certification actions, reviewing waivers, and analyzing operational risks tied to Force Development Exception to Policy (FDEP) processes. This role goes beyond traditional clinical work, encompassing consultation on aeromedical program management across AETC's DLIELC, medical evaluations, and fitness-for-duty determinations.

The scope extends to advising DLIELC leadership on the Aerospace Medicine Enterprise across 11 AETC bases, covering aerospace, occupational, environmental, and preventive medicine, as well as public health programs. The physician will also contribute to implementing Department of Defense, Air Force, and AETC guidance.

A key responsibility involves case review and risk assessment for FDEP board proceedings, coordinating with healthcare providers and the Aeromedical Consultation Service at the U.S. Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine. Additionally, the role includes quality control for Flying Class physical waivers through the Aeromedical Information Management Waiver Tracking System, and consultation on the Personnel Reliability Assurance Program and Public Health Emergency Officer plans.

The specialized nature of this work underscores the need for qualified aerospace medicine expertise. The PWS mandates an M.D. or D.O. degree, relevant aerospace medicine credentials, current Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification, and senior or chief flight surgeon qualifications. An active U.S. medical license and recent military aerospace medicine experience are also required.

Performance will be measured against rigorous standards, with several key services—including consultation, case review, and waiver quality control—requiring a 99% monthly threshold. Security and privacy are paramount; contractor personnel must comply with Air Force and DoD requirements, and a HIPAA Business Associate Agreement will govern protected health information.

For Glocoms, this engagement reinforces its ability to support government organizations with highly skilled professionals in demanding regulatory and operational settings. It marks another step in the company's growth in specialized federal healthcare, leveraging Maurence Anguh's leadership to navigate complex program requirements.
