Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL), an international peace NGO with special consultative status at the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), recently commemorated the ninth anniversary of its international law for peace. The event, held at the CUNY School of Law, brought together over 100 participants, including community and religious leaders, to focus on the importance of religious freedom, peaceful coexistence among diverse groups, and the spread of a global culture of peace.
The gathering highlighted articles 8-10 of HWPL's international law for peace, which align with the United Nations sustainable development goals (SDGs) 16 and 17. These goals advocate for peaceful, inclusive societies and global partnerships for sustainable development. The event showcased performances by HWPL volunteers and affiliates of the United Sikhs and the Hindu Temple Society of North America, alongside a message from HWPL Chairman Lee Man-hee, who emphasized the collective responsibility towards peace.
Chairman Lee's remarks, originally delivered at the main commemoration event in South Korea, underscored the necessity for unity across religions and cultures to achieve peace. HWPL has been at the forefront of promoting peace through its legal framework and global initiatives, with the New York event being part of a series of commemorations worldwide during March.
